Are you wondering how inspiration cards work?  Here’s how you  use the cards:

1. Select a peaceful location and take a moment to quiet your mind. Breathe softly, yet deeply, gently clearing away the busyness of the day and granting space to ponder.
2. Consider the topic or question upon which you’d like to ponder. Take a moment to focus on your pondering, while holding the deck of cards in your hands.
3. Fan the deck of cards so the images are visible. Select an image to which you’re drawn, or simply close your eyes and feel which card calls to you. You will know. Trust your inner voice.
4. Contemplate the message of the card.
5. Consider how you might ponder in this message even further. Even deeper. Select a way that is meaningful to you. Write. Paint. Hike. Dance. Again, you will know. Trust.
6. Listen and be aware, for new messages will continue to come forth in your journey. This is the gift of the universe.

An Excerpt from “My Journey Back to Me” – a Chapter in Spiritual Adventures with Horse by Kami Guildner

As the dream ended, I awoke abruptly – conscious of how seemingly real this dream had been. Still invigorated by the experience, I lay there reliving the journey I had just taken. At the start of this vision, I’d been in a restricted state of mind, with feelings of frustration and closed energy. I was feeling this lack-luster space and wondering where the passion had gone in my life.

Then with beauty and light, my beautiful grey Swedish Warmblood mare, Destiny Dancer – now with wings – flew gracefully into the scene, bringing with her trees and mountains; rocks and the colors of the outdoors. We were suddenly moved into a peaceful scene with rivers, butterflies, and birds. She approached me, with a gentle calm and knowing way about her – so self-assured. She seemed to almost smile, which warmed my heart, lifting my mood. As she nuzzled me, her warm breath gave life to my body and a new glow began to shine.

And then with the gentleness of a mother’s touch, Destiny wrapped her legs around me and with great ease, her powerful giant wings set sail and launched us into flight. It was a seemingly natural and effortless launch – so much so, that I did not even realize we were in flight until we were well above the land. As we glided here and there, I felt joy encompass my body, ignited by the beauty of all that was around us – the smells of the flowers, the humming of the bees, and the greatness of the eagles with whom we shared the sky. She carried me across the mountains, and out over the open plains – with grasses blowing softly in the breeze. Destiny was guiding me through nature and filling my soul. When I awoke, it was with a sense of awe and wonderment – a renewed passion glowing in my heart.

At the time, I didn’t quite know the meaning of this dream, but I knew that it was important. In my 20s and 30s, I often dreamed that I could fly – so easily and effortlessly – like it was the most natural thing in the world.

Dreams of flying hold special meaning – they symbolize a sense of freedom and personal growth with passion. Flying dreams can signify a time when everything is flowing smoothly and in control – aligned to destiny. They can also provide strength and motivation to take responsibility for something in our lives that is spiraling out of control. In my late 30s and early 40s, my flying dreams had virtually stopped.

I believe Destiny flew into my dreams that night – to shed light onto the fact that it was time to make a correction in my path and realign with my passions. The power of this great horse lifted me into flight that night, to remind me of that sense of wonderment and awe. It was just the start of understanding what horses could teach me. And it was clear that horses were going to show me the way.

I knew that I was a different person today, because I’d known horses from the time my daddy held me atop our horses’ back as a baby. Years of working, training and loving horses had taught me responsibility, passion, work ethic and confidence. With these horse-taught skills at my foundation, I had progressed through my career with ease, and was a vice president in a large multinational company. I had checked off all the things on my “Goals List” and was proud of what I had accomplished.

But now something was starting to shift inside. Something was asking, “Is this really it?” My dream underscored this question, although I set it aside for another day when I would be more willing to ‘hear’ the message that needed to be heard.

Diana lives on a small farm nestled in the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas. Like me, she has a deep passion for the beauty of the earth and a spiritual kinship for the animals who share the mountains with her.  From the moment we spoke, we both knew we were to partner together on this special project.  What has unfolded is a series of deep messages paired with beautiful art that speak to the heart, body and soul.

As I awoke this morning, pondering this month’s article topic, I decided to pull one of these “always knowing” cards for my own inspiration.  I drew the card, Dawn Dreamers.

In early morning light through the mist, secrets are shared.  Dawn Dreamers whisper.

There is a message to hear.  New possibilities are on the horizon.  Close your eyes.  Consider the colors you see.  Feel the groundedness that mother earth provides to you.  Today is a day started in peacefulness – let that feeling carry you through the day.

Glimpses of new paths are on the horizon.  This is the birthplace of unfolding opportunities – your seeds of life have been planted.  You only need to nurture these budding dreams.  Take time to live in these possibilities today.  Acknowledge them.  Write them down.  Paint the pictures and envision where these dreams will take you.  Dreams are your gift.

What an appropriate card as we launch into 2012.  For so many of us leverage the dawning of the New Year to declare new goals, envision budding ideas and play in the realm of new possibilities.  I invite you to take a bit of time today to quietly ponder in the message of this card.  Consider all that you’d like to manifest.  Get really clear about the vision.  As this vision finds clarity, write down your aspirations that will engine this vision.  Here are a few tips for writing aspirations!

• Make your aspirations Bold and Far Reaching.  Shoot for the stars here. No small dreamers allowed – envision all that you want to create and set your judge and any “Yea, but” self-commentary aside.  This is your time to own this vision.  Paint the picture with YOU at the center.  Feel it.  Breathe it.  Live it.  You’ll want to embody what it feels like to be amongst your stars.
• Build your aspirations from your Heart. They must set your soul on fire with excitement!  You’ll know you’ve nailed it when your heart starts to do summersaults and flips as you play in the possibilities.
• Select words for your aspirations in an Unconditionally Positive frame-of-mind, grounded with solid glimpses of yeses and success!  The power of the positive will guide you to achieve the impossible.
• Write your aspirations as if they are already Happening Today!  Believe in yourself, believe in your dreams and they will become your reality.
• Put a Deadline to your aspirations.  This is your chance to put these aspirations into motion.  It’s the opportunity to set up steps to take you there.  The deadline will jumpstart your path.

But alas, you can shape your next chapter.  All of your life experiences to date are the foundation of what is to be.  You only need arrange this foundation in a direction that you’d like it to lead.  Block, by block – you can uncover the bricks that can shape your future.  A future with purpose.  A future with meaning.   A future with passion!

Grounded in Appreciative Inquiry principles, the workshops and coaching programs have focused on:

Seasoned Executive Hurdles Over an M&A Bump-in-the-Road – When John’s mid-size company was acquired by a large organization, a period of drastic change commenced. Through a sequence of lateral position shifts, John’s entire section of the company was blown apart, leaving John in a role with significantly reduced roles and responsibilities.

As the year unrolled, the nature of John’s conversations with the new executive team left John questioning his leadership skills and his entire history of career success. “That whole year really knocked me off my feet. I found myself questioning my whole career and was suddenly unsure what I wanted to do with my life.
