I often find myself in conversation with others about creating work:life balance. What does work:life balance mean to you? How do you juggle all that presents itself in the realm of your day-to-day living? Perhaps it is time that we start thinking about work:life balance in a different way. After all, it’s all life! How do you intertwine passions, responsibilities and personal joy? The answer to this is different for every person! And the balance equation changes as life progresses – never remaining static or the same at any time in our lives.
In hopes of learning what’s top-of-mind for women as they think about their next chapter, I launched a survey this month. Results are still coming in (the survey will remain open until July 31, 2012), but I have found some of the early results fascinating!

It might be that you’ve worked hard in a career that’s provided you with many blessings, although you’re starting to see glimpses of a new stage in life. Perhaps, life delivered unexpected changes that shook your world. Or perhaps you just know you need to do something different, but you’re not certain what that might be.

The study of life paths has become my passion. And the exploration of this passion is timely. Every day, I meet new people who are pondering their next chapter. They have worked hard their whole life, and are ready for something new. But they’re not certain what that might be. According to a recent Right Management Study, 84% of people say they’re going to look for new jobs this year (and only 5% say they are definitely going to remain in their current position). These numbers are staggering to me – and only support what I inherently knew. People are ready to make a change.
